When we visited the castle, it was raining intermittently and was pretty cold. The castle area is huge and we took the audio device at the entry which was quite long and boring and so, may be safely … Full review by guptaeti

We visited on a very wet day recently and enjoyed visiting all the indoors parts of the castle. As it was so wet we never waited in the queue for the jewels but enjoyed a nose around the war memorial… Full review by Jennifer S

I would say Edinburgh Castle is the main reason I fell in love with this cultural and legendary city. 3 and half hour well spend in this castle. Full review by DayTrip25117402523
Thank you How close can we park to the Castle. We have walkers but not no Handicap placard. We're not from UK. Need to allow time for our slot.

To he honest parking in the old town is quite isolated, parking mainly in the lower end around Princess Street. My advice would be if your staying in a Hotel leave your car and taxi to the Castle for drop off, they will facilitate your needs. Remember it’s the old town and the streets are cobbled and well crammed.
I'm interested in a tour of the Castle but I don't know if I should go for an independent group tour or the official Castle tour. The groups tour is 1.5hours and outside but doesn't include going inside the Castle. The Official one is 30 mins outside. I know I get tired so I'm a bit concerned a 1.5 hours tour would tire me out with no energy to visit inside the Castle. Like how many buildings are there to go inside? How big is the inside the Castle? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not much to see outside I would go inside a lot of things to see
if I buy ticket online, can I show up after the slot I've booked? Would like to book tickets in advance since I'm worried they might sell out but I'm worried that I might not be able to make it on my slot

Another good idea is getting a Historic Scotland membership so you don't have to pay a second time for tickets. Check out their website.
Is a guided tour worth it or can i just do a standard ticket? i would be alone so find a guided tour to be intimidating

I agree that both options have advantages, and disadvantages. We found the audio very detailed and overloading at times, but would be ok if you want to know at that level of detail in prep for writing your doctoral thesis. It offers the advantage of being able to spend time focused on the areas and artefacts you are more interested in. The guided tours offer a far more interactive experience and you can talk with the guide if you want, they’re very consistently knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Go with the option that suits your desired pace, and there is a lot to see and enjoy.
