Video footage shows a Boeing 747-400 aircraft flashing with flames as it took off from the Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in the Indonesian city of Makassar.

A Boeing 747 was forced into making an emergency landing after one of its engines burst into flames during take-off. The aircraft, travelling from Indonesia, could be seen hurtling down the runway when a jet of fire was thrown out of its right-hand-side engine.

Indonesian authorities have raised the alert level for Mount Ibu, a volcano in North Maluku province, to the highest level following a series of eruptions since last week.

Indonesia's volcanology agency on Thursday raised the alert level of the Ibu volcano to the highest on its scale after a series of recent eruptions. The agency in a statement also warned nearby residents against coming near the volcano,

Indonesia's Mount Ibu volcano erupted for five minutes. Authorities have prepared evacuation tents nearby but have not yet ordered an evacuation.
