SpaceX just launched its latest batch of satellites on Sunday (May 12). It sent 23 more Starlink satellites to orbit from Florida's Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Those Starlinks appear to be doing fine so far; SpaceX previously said that better weather forecasts would be needed to protect the fleet from future solar storm incidents.

Several recently launched Starlink satellites also sailed through the solar storm without disruption, according to SpaceX, which had warned of potentially 'degraded service.'

Starlink, the satellite arm of Elon Musk's SpaceX, warned on Saturday of a "degraded service" as the Earth is battered by the biggest geomagnetic storm due to solar activity in two decades.

Sunday's launch was the 49th orbital mission of 2024 already for SpaceX. Thirty-three of this year's 48 launches have been dedicated to building out the Starlink megaconstellation, which currently consists of about 5,900 working satellites.
