HARDINESS ZONE:3-9 GROW:Use a sterile seed mix and place the seeds on the surface of the soil. Keep in a bright location, and keep moist until germination, and until seedlings are established. Seeds germinate in approximately 15 days. WHEN TO PLANT:Sown directly into the ground in late May / early June or under cover in January / February. TALL.Grows up to 1-2 ft. tall (30-60 cm) and 3-5 ft. wide (90-150 cm). COMPANION.Some good choices are golden creeping Jenny,New Guinea impatiens (annuals) and pink petunias (typically grown as annuals). Native to South Africa, Pelargonium peltatum (Ivy Geranium) is a trailing, evergreen perennial with fleshy, glossy, bright green leaves, 2-3 in. across (5-7 cm). Adorned with pointed lobes, they resemble those of Ivy (Hedera), hence the common name. Rounded clusters of single or double flowers in shades of red, pink, lavender, or white appear from spring through fall. This plant does particularly well in environments with cool nights and bright days. Providing a summer of lush flowering, Ivy Geranium is a great addition to hanging baskets, window boxes, and raised beds where it will cascade gracefully down, creating a waterfall effect.
